CLARIAH-EN-AN is an initiative to promote research in the humanities and social sciences (and other areas) through participation in the European research infrastructures CLARIN and DARIAH. These research infrastructures offer resources and support for research in Europe and, following in their footsteps, CLARIAH-ES-AN aims to offer similar services for Andalusian researchers. To this end, the reference centres in natural language research will form the CLARIAH-ES-AN consortium in order to integrate it into the national CLARIAH-ES consortium and, through it, into the CLARIN and DARIAH infrastructures.
The ultimate objectives of the CLARIAH-ES-AN consortium are to support the inclusion of Andalusian research groups in CLARIN and DARIAH, to ensure that they have a growing presence in them, to contribute to the advancement of research in the humanities and social sciences, and to open the door to greater participation in international projects and programmes, especially within the European Research Area.
Recently, the Spanish Government has signed the adhesion of our country to the European research infrastructures CLARIN and DARIAH, thus creating the CLARIAH-ES consortium. This consortium is subdivided into nodes, with the UJA, through the CEATIC and the SINAI research group, being the coordinators of the Andalusian node of CLARIAH-ES.
These research infrastructures offer resources and support for research in Europe and, following in their footsteps, CLARIAH-ES-AN aims to offer similar services for Andalusian researchers. This first conference was organised to raise awareness of the national consortium and to begin the creation of a consortium for the autonomous community of Andalusia. We want to add researchers and initiate the creation of collaborative networks. We intend with this conference to know who in the UJA works in Digital Humanities and Computational Social Sciences, or is interested in doing so, to guide them in the possibilities that CLARIN and DARIAH offer for research.
